Canary Mail is a secure, cross-platform email client with optional AI that connects with your existing email accounts, task tools, and devices without replacing your workflow. This page covers every direct integration, every supported email provider, and every platform where Canary Mail runs - so you can answer "does it fit my stack?" in under a minute.

Quick Answer:

Category What Is Supported
Direct integrations Asana, Todoist
Works with Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Exchange, IMAP
Workflow compatibility Calendar workflow, Apple ecosystem, Outlook ecosystem, cross-device sync
Available on macOS, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android

Direct Integrations

Canary Mail currently has two direct third-party integrations: Asana and Todoist. These are the only tools with a built-in connect flow inside the app. Other email providers and platforms listed on this page work with Canary Mail but are not direct integrations.

Asana

Turn emails into Asana tasks without leaving your inbox. Once connected, open any email, tap the more options menu, and create a task directly in your Asana project with a deadline and details already filled in.

Todoist

Convert emails into Todoist tasks in a few taps. Select the project, set a deadline, and save - the email becomes an actionable item inside your Todoist workflow.

To connect either integration: go to Canary Mail Preferences or Settings, click Integrations, select Asana or Todoist, and log in to your account.

Works With Major Email Accounts

Canary Mail is an email client, not an email provider. It works with the email accounts you already have. You keep your existing address and email history - Canary Mail is the app you use to access and manage them.

Email Provider Supported
Gmail Yes
Outlook Yes
iCloud Yes
Exchange Yes
IMAP Yes

This includes personal accounts, work accounts, and multiple accounts at once. Canary Mail's unified inbox brings all of them into a single view.

For more on security across these providers, see Canary Mail Security.

Workflow Compatibility

Calendar Workflow

Canary Mail includes built-in calendar handling. You can view upcoming meetings, check availability, and handle calendar invites directly from the app - without switching to a separate calendar tool.

Apple Ecosystem Workflows

Canary Mail is available on macOS, iPhone, and iPad. If your primary device is a Mac and you use an iPhone, cross-device sync keeps your accounts and supported settings consistent without repeated manual setup.

Outlook Ecosystem Workflows

If your organization runs on Outlook or Exchange, Canary Mail connects to your existing account. You do not need to change your email provider or migrate data.

Cross-Device Sync

Canary Mail supports cross-device sync across macOS, Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Android. Sign into the same Canary Mail account on each device and sync activates automatically for supported data.

Who This Page Is For

  • Apple Mail switchers: Looking for stronger features, optional AI, or built-in encryption while staying in a familiar Apple-style workflow.
  • Mixed-device professionals: Using a Mac at the desk and an Android or Windows device elsewhere. Canary Mail keeps accounts consistent across all of them.
  • Privacy-conscious users: End-to-end encryption, tracker blocking, and phishing alerts are built into every plan. AI features are optional and can be used without sending data off-device.
  • People managing multiple accounts: Personal, work, side projects. Canary Mail's unified inbox handles all of them in one place.
  • Lean teams using Asana or Todoist: Turn email threads into tasks without switching apps. The direct integration keeps both tools in step.

How Canary Mail Fits Your Stack

  • If you want one place for multiple email accounts: Canary Mail's unified inbox supports unlimited accounts across Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Exchange, and IMAP.
  • If you want an Apple-style workflow with stronger features: Available on macOS and iOS with cross-device sync, calendar handling, and end-to-end encryption.
  • If you want optional AI, not AI-first workflow: AI features in Canary Mail are optional. You can enable or disable them based on your preference. They do not run by default in a way that forces AI into every interaction. See AI features for details.
  • If you want privacy-aware email across devices: Encryption, tracker blocking, and phishing detection are active across all platforms with no extra configuration required.
