Can I use Canary Mail for free?

Yes. Canary Mail offers a free-forever plan that includes essential email tools across macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android. If you need optional AI tools or advanced productivity features, you can upgrade to Growth at $36 per year. For advanced security features, Pro+ is available at $100 per year. Which plan is right for me?

Choose Free for basic email management at no cost. Choose Growth if you want optional AI tools and advanced productivity features. Choose Pro+ if you need end-to-end encryption and advanced security.

How do I purchase or upgrade?

Purchases and upgrades are completed directly inside the Canary Mail app. The pricing page is for reference only and does not process payments.

Here is how to upgrade on each platform:

  • macOS - Open Canary Mail > Upgrade Now > Select Growth or Pro+ > Choose Yearly or Lifetime.
  • iOS - Open Canary Mail > Tap the menu icon > Settings > Upgrade Now > Select your plan and billing option.
  • Android - Open Canary Mail > Tap the menu icon > Upgrade Now > Select your plan and billing option.
  • Windows - Open Canary Mail > Scroll down to Canary Pro in the left sidebar > Select your plan and billing option.

Both Growth and Pro+ are available as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.

Does Canary Mail offer monthly subscriptions?

No, Canary Mail does not offer monthly subscriptions.

Paid plans are available as:

  • Yearly plans
  • Lifetime plans with a one-time payment

All plans work across all platforms (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows).

Any monthly price shown on the pricing page is a monthly equivalent of the yearly plan, not a monthly billing option.

Is there a lifetime plan?

Yes. Both Growth and Pro+ are available as a one-time lifetime purchase. A lifetime plan gives you permanent access to your chosen plan's features without any recurring billing.

Lifetime plans are single-user licenses and cover up to 5 devices across macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android.

How does the free trial work?

When you download Canary Mail, you get access to all paid features for 7 days at no cost. No credit card is required and there is no auto-billing. At the end of the trial, you can upgrade to Growth or Pro+. If you do not upgrade, your account moves to the Free plan automatically.

Do I have to enter a credit card to start a free trial?

No. You can start a 7-day free trial without entering a credit card or setting up any billing. There is no auto-charge at the end of the trial period. If you do not upgrade, your account moves to the Free plan automatically.

Is it easy to cancel?

Yes. Trials require no credit card, so there is nothing to cancel. For paid plans, you can cancel anytime through your app store subscription settings. Your plan remains active until the end of the billing period, then moves to the Free plan.

What does "single user license" mean?

A single user license is tied to one individual user, not a team or organization. You can use Canary Mail across multiple devices under the same account, within your plan’s device limit:

  • Free - up to 2 devices
  • Growth - up to 5 devices
  • Pro+ - up to 5 devices

Your license covers all supported platforms - macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android. You do not need to purchase a separate license for each platform or device. For more detail, visit Cross-Device Sync and Licensing.

Are there any storage limits?

No. Canary Mail does not impose storage limits on your email. Your emails are stored with your email provider and Canary Mail syncs and displays them locally on your device. Storage capacity is determined by your email provider, not by your Canary Mail plan.

Can I use one paid plan on my Mac and iPhone?

Yes. One Growth or Pro+ plan covers up to 5 devices across all supported platforms. Sign in with the same account on each device to activate your plan. For setup guidance, visit Cross-Device Sync and Licensing

What should I do if my paid plan does not appear on another device?

If your paid plan isn’t showing, make sure you’re signed in with the same account used for the original purchase. Then open the app and select Restore Purchases from the settings. If the issue persists, contact support at hello@canarymail.io.

Does Canary Mail use my emails to train AI?

No. Your emails are not used to train AI models and are not shared with third-party AI providers for training purposes. Your email content stays private and under your control. AI features are optional and can be disabled at any time.

Is my data safe with Canary Mail?
