How to Migrate from MSI to MSIX for Canary Mail on Windows

With the latest update, Canary Mail for Windows is now available on the Microsoft Store. This transition brings better installation and update management. If you’re currently using the older MSI version, follow the steps below to seamlessly migrate to the new MSIX version from the Microsoft Store.

Migration Requirements

  1. Update to Version 4.2.10 or 4.2.16:
    • Ensure your current Canary Mail version is at least 4.2.10.
    • To check your version:
      • Open Canary Mail and go to Settings.
    • If an update is available in the app, apply it to reach the required version.

Migration Steps

For Version 4.2.16 Users:

  • The app will guide you through the migration process automatically:
    • Pop-up messages will appear in the app, walking you through the steps.
    • These steps will direct you to download the new MSIX version from the Microsoft Store.

For Version 4.2.10 Users:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store and search for Canary Mail App.
  2. Download and install the app from the store.
  3. Open the newly installed app to complete the migration process.

Important Notes

  • Automatic Deletion of the Old Version:
    • Once the migration is complete, the MSI version of Canary Mail will be removed from your system.
  • Seamless Data Migration:
    • All your data will be safely transferred to the new MSIX version.
  • Updates Managed Through the Microsoft Store:
    • Going forward, updates for Canary Mail will be smaller, more frequent, and easier to apply via the Microsoft Store.
